About SCJH & Learn to Skate or "LTS":
If you are looking for beginner/new to Hockey skating classes for your child, ages 4-6, then these classes are perfect for you.
Learn To Skate USA, or "LTS," is a program specifically designed with a focus on Hockey Curriculum. LTS Hockey caters to new skaters in hockey skates through the basic levels. We offer interactive and enjoyable group classes for both new and returning basic level skaters, aimed at improving their skills before they transition into JYH (Jackson Youth Hockey).

Note: We offer two different LTS classes. LTS Hockey is designed for skaters in Hockey Skates who will eventually move into Jackson Youth Hockey. Alternatively, we have our LTS classes (Snowplow Sam for ages 3-6 and Basic skills for Ages 6 and up) for skaters who aren't sure about their skating path and are looking for fun and non-specific classes, where skaters will be using both figure skates and hockey skates. These classes take place during the same time.

ABOUT Our LTS HOCKEY Classes:
SCJH Learn to Skate Hockey group classes meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays AT OUR NEW TIME from 4:00-4:30pm with a open practice time before from 3:40-4:00pm (please note the practice time is for currently registered skaters only).  During the Tuesdays & Thursday classes your skater will not need a stick, so please leave it at home. We understand that you may have scheduling constraints, so we do offer the option of signing up for one day per week (half tuition) if that better suits your needs. Additionally, we provide the option of adding semester skate rental to your registration for a nominal fee, or you may choose to bring your own skates.
Please review the FAQ for addition information regarding recommendation on clothing/gear!

A Brief Policy & Refund Disclaimer:
In this paragraph, we will discuss the key topics regarding SCJH's policy and waivers, which are a part of the registration process. As a valued member of our community and program, SCJH expects skaters and parents to demonstrate humanity, kindness, empathy, and respect. We have a zero-tolerance policy for racism, discrimination, harassment, or hate in any form. SCJH reserves the right to refuse service to skaters or parents who do not adhere to the club's protocols and policies. It is important to carefully read and understand all the waivers during the registration process. While SCJH strives to accommodate changes and understands that life can be unpredictable, please note that we do not issue refunds or make up classes. We will communicate any updates or changes via email, so please ensure that you provide us with your correct email address for effective communication. Please click HERE for more information on refunds/missed classes.

-Be on time & Follow These Steps To Make Group Class Easy-

1. Arrive a 20 minutes before your class kicks off. We operate out of the Snow King Event & Sports Center.

2.  Check in at the registration desk.

3. Your skater will receive a name tag & Welcome Packet. On the name tag you will see a color this color will be "their group level/name". Please make sure you review the packet.

4. Lace skates up. Skates can be rented for $5.00 (or add the semester rental to your registration)  from the rink but rentals are not included in the group lesson pricing. Remember to only allow your skaters to walk on protective surfaces, NEVER WALK ON CONCRETE with skates (unless the blades have hard guards). Used Skates can be purchased from the Skate Swap/Hockey Swap, or we are happy to guide you in the process of  buying a new pair. Helmets are required for all skaters.

 5. Students will meet off ice with their instructor - Coaches will go over class procedures, this is also good time to meet and become acquainted with your new instructor and ask any questions you may have. After the first couple of lessons skaters will be allowed to immediately take the ice at 5:00pm.

The people you will meet:  Sandy Sandberg our program coordinator.  Lacey Merrell our Skating Director & your group skating Instructor.

Asked Questions:
*What ages are you taking?
We are enrolling ages 3-5 in our Hockey LTS. If your skater is older than 6 we would encourage you to enroll them in JYH.

*Where do you purchase skating gear:
Jackson Youth Hockey will be hosting their Skate Swap. If not you can purchase needed gear online.

*Yes To Helmets and Head Protection:
All SKATERS, ages 4-6, must wear a helmet. Nothing is to be worn underneath the helmet for proper fitting. Hockey helmets with cages are recommend but ski/ bike helmets are ok too.

*What does my skater need to wear on Tuesday and Thursday Skating classes?
Comfort and moving freely are essential for new skaters. Choose sweatpants/warm-up pants or snow pants. Bring a jacket too, since indoor rinks do set thermostats at  brisk temps.
* Hockey skates,
*A Helmet
*Gloves (Ski gloves are preferable during this class) .
If your skater wishes to wear hockey pants and more of the gear they my do so.

*What Kind Of Gloves?
Gloves are preferable to mittens as they provide articulation. Either way, mittens or gloves are suitable for Tuesday and Thursday classes.
