Private Lesson Policy for Skating Students
We’re excited to have you in private lessons! These sessions are a great way to accelerate your progress and build confidence on the ice. To ensure everything runs smoothly, please take a moment to read through the following policies.
1.Booking and Scheduling Lessons
o Lessons are Scheduled directly with your coach. Be sure to confirm and communicate your desire for lessons and whether it is a standing weekly lesson or a one-time session at the time of booking.
o Availability may vary,so communication is key. Always confirm your lesson day and time ahead of each week as some sessions vary (like our Friday Pop-up’s)
2. Lesson Fees
o Some coaches have recently increased their lesson fees by**10%or slightly more** due to rising costs, including living expenses and the cost of maintaining certifications and continued educations. This allows coaches to continue oMering high-quality instruction while covering necessary expenses.
o Lesson fees will be discussed directly with your coach and are separate from ice time fees.
3. Payments
o Payment is made directly to the coach via the agreed-upon method (cash,check, or digital payment). Please ensure payment is made promptly—either at the time of the lesson or at the time of billing—depending on your coach’s preference.
o Pleasediscusslatepaymentfees.Somecoacheschargea5%latefeeon payments that are more than 2 weeks late.
o Pleaseask/confirmpriceoftheiradditionalfeesincluding,cuttingspring show/competition music, attending test sessions/comps, etc.
4. 24-Hour Cancellation Policy
o Ifyouneedtocancelorreschedulealesson,pleaseprovideatleast**24hours’ notice**. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice or failure to show up for your scheduled lesson will result in being charged the **full lesson fee**.
o In case of an emergency, please contact your coach as soon as possible but please make note that if your coach is at the rink, on their way to the rink or unable to fill the lesson fees still may be applied.
5. Punctuality
o Trying to arrive 10-15 minutes before your less on to warm up and prepare is key. Lessons will begin and end as scheduled, and full fees will apply even if you are late.
o If you arrive late,the lesson time will not be extended,and the full lesson fee will still be due.
6. Ice Time Fees
o Skatersareresponsibleforpayingfortheirownicetimewhenskatingonrink-run sessions (public sessions), in addition to lesson fees. Coaches are expected to Venmo the club before giving lessons on freestyle ice or ice not included in your package. Please note: If your skater takes a lesson during Club freestyle sessions (ice not included in your package), a $20 ice fee will be applied for every 30 minutes of club ice used. Ice time rates for public and freestyle sessions vary, so please check with the rink/coach for current pricing.

o Private lessons are an exciting opportunity to focus on your personal goals. Please communicate with your coach about what level they are able to teach, what level/coaching level they are and any specific skills or areas you'd like to work on to ensure you are a good fit and you get the most out of your lesson. Coaches are committed to helping you improve, so come ready to work hard and have fun!
o Communication:Weunderstandthatcommunicationcanbechallengingwhen coaches have lessons scheduled before or after yours. If you need to discuss anything with your coach, please do so during your lesson time. Alternatively, you can schedule a time to chat during an ice cut or arrange a call at a more convenient time.
o Music:Per there USFS rule changes, all music used in competitions must be properly cleared. Please ensure that your skater’s music has been run through the appropriate clearance process before submitting it to your coach for approval.
8. Coach’s Availability
o Coaches do their best to provide consistent availability but may have changes in their schedules. If your coach needs to cancel, they will give as much notice as possible. Please do the same if you need to adjust your schedule.
o If the coach needs to cancel your lesson please inquire about if and when your make up lesson can be scheduled.
