-Be on time & Follow These Steps To Make Group Class Easy-

1. Review our Cover Policy & Guidelines HERE. Please Review them with your skater as well.

2. Arrive a 20 minutes before your class kicks off (15 mins thereafter). We operate out of the Snow King Event & Sports Center.

3.  Check in with Sandy Sandberg at the registration desk.

4. Your skater will receive a welcome packet & a name tag and on the name tag you will see a color this color will be "their group level/name". Please make sure you review the packet & then bring the name tag each day you skate.

4. Lace up skates. Skates can be rented from the rink but rentals are not included in the group lesson pricing. Remember to only allow your skaters to walk on protective surfaces, NEVER WALK ON CONCRETE with skates (unless the blades have hard guards). Used Skates can be purchased from the Clubs Facebook Group page (Skating Club of Jackson Hole Exchange), or we are happy to guide you in the process of  buying a new pair.

 5. Students will meet off ice at 3:30 with their instructor - look for the matching color on the name tag to coaches binders.   Coaches will go over class procedures and Cover Policy's, Please review our guidelines HERE . This is also good time to meet and become acquainted with your new instructor and ask any questions you may have (please remember to socially distance and wear a mask).

The people you will meet:  Sandy Sandberg our program coordinator.  Lacey Merrell our Skating Director & your group skating Instructor

*What's different/what has COVID changed in SCJH:
A big change (at least through December) is our LTS program has moved to Sundays Only.  LTS use to fall on Tues & Thursdays at 4:15-5:10 (warm-up was 4:15-4:30, Group Class 4:30-5:00 with a ten minute practice to follow).  Our price structure for the one day option hasn't really changed. Pre-COVID we would take new skaters, and skaters ages 3 and up. Unfortunately we feel that we are unable hold skaters hands and hold skaters up while practicing social distancing. If social distancing eases and COVID cases fall the club will look at going back to our "normal" schedule in January. Please Review all the COVID Policies before arriving!

*What Level Do I Sign My Skater Up For?
If your skater is ages 3-5 during enrollment you will register them in the Snowplow Sam Class, even if the skater was in Snowplow Sam before (Snowplow Sam testing goes to Snowplow level 4).  If Skaters is ages 6 & up at the time of enrollment you will register them for Basic 1. Unfortunately Due To COVID we will not be enrolling these skaters at this time.

*My Skater Hasn't Taken Group Classes But Has Skated Before..
We are excited they've been on the ice but, they will need to start in the levels mentioned above. If they are ready we will move them up to the next level, we will not hold your skaters back!  Remember it's much easier to move up in levels rather than down. Unfortunately Due To COVID we will not be enrolling these skaters at this time.

*What Level's are you taking:
If your skater is a returning LTS skater, and is a basic 2 - basic 6 level. We will be socially distancing during group classes. Our instructors will be unable to hold skaters up till social distancing eases.

*Who Is My Skaters Group Instructor
First know what group your skater is in (what color is on the name tag) then please visit the SCJH Instructors page or click HERE.

*What Will My Skater Be Working On?
SCJH follows the Learn To Skate USA  curriculum. Below are the links.
Basic Skills Curriculum
Snowplow Sam Curriculum
*Where do you purchase skating gear:
The club will not be doing a skate swap. Please check out the club's used gear group page on FB (Skating Club of Jackson Hole Exchange). New skates/gear can be purchased online links are available HERE.

*Yes To Helmets and Head Protection:
All SNOWPLOW SAM SKATERS, ages 3-6, must wear a helmet. Nothing is to be worn underneath the helmet for proper fitting. Any new skaters to Learn to Skate USA are also encouraged to wear a hat or bring and wear a helmet for the first few class until a comfortable balance is established. We recommend CSA helmets!

*Yes Bring lots of layers.
Comfort and moving freely about are essential for new skaters. Choose sweatpants or warm-up pants instead of bulkier snow pants. Bring a jacket too, since indoor rinks do set thermostats at a brisk 50 degrees Fahrenheit. No heavy ski clothes as they prohibit movement and bending.

*What Socks Do I Put My Skater In?
Thin over thick. Bulkier, thicker socks limit support and movement and create unwanted bumps inside the boots. Go with lightweight socks or thinner tights.

*What Kind Of Gloves?
Gloves are preferable to mittens as they provide articulation. Either way, mittens or gloves are suitable.
