-About Learn to Skate (LTS) Adult Classes-
Ice skating is for the kid in all of us. Our adult curriculum is designed to help promote physical fitness, improve balance and coordination while teaching proper skating techniques. Our adult classes are designed for the Lower levels to the experienced adult skaters who wish to improve their skating skills or to get into "skiing shape".  This is an exciting program for adults who are looking to add in skating as an enjoyable part of their fit and healthy lifestyle. Skaters meet once a week for on ice multi-level group instruction with a practice beforehand. We will do our best to work with all levels of adult skaters, from the basics to those of you spinning/jumping.

ABOUT SCJH:
Skating Club of Jackson Hole or "SCJH" offers an interactive and safe skating experience for our students. All of our SCJH instructors are Safesport/Background check & cleared as well as registered through Learn To Skate USA or "LTS".  SCJH operates in the only indoor ice skating rink in Jackson Hole, WY. Located in The Snow King Sports and Event Center. SCJH is dedicated to providing quality instruction for children and adults of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and creeds. Skaters will learn the fundamentals of skating in a spirited, encouraging, supportive atmosphere.

-Adult Class Requirements-
SKATING REQUIREMENTS: Four Skaters are needed in order to run Adult Group. If four skaters do not enroll, you will be issued a reimbursement check. All skaters signing up for Adult Group Class must be able to skate forward, unassisted, without holding the wall and feel comfortable maneuvering in a group setting/Open practice . Skaters should also be able to do a forward snowplow or hockey stop without help. Since the group class is a mixed level of adult skaters, the skating skills listed above is for your safety, and all other skaters.

-ADULT CLASS FAQ-

*Helmets and Head Protection:
prepare yourself  for the expected and unexpected. We recommend all skaters who are newer to skating to wear a CSA approved helmet, until a comfortable balance is established. Nothing is to be worn underneath the helmet for proper fitting.  Elbow pads/knee pads are encourage until you get your sea legs as well!

*Bring lots of layers-
Comfort and moving freely about are essential for skaters. Choose sweatpants or warm-up pants (tighter fitting) instead of bulkier snow pants. Bring a jacket too, since indoor rinks do set thermostats at a brisk 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
No heavy ski clothes as they prohibit movement and bending.

*Socks-
Thin over thick. Bulkier, thicker socks limit support and movement and create unwanted bumps inside the boots. Go with lightweight socks or thinner tights.

*Gloves-
Gloves are preferable to mittens as they provide articulation. Either way, mittens or gloves are suitable.

*Skates-

Skates can be rented from the rink. Skate rental is not included in SCJH class registration. If you wish to buy check out our skate swap, or drop us a email and we will help guide you where to purchase!
