About SCJH & Learn to Skate or "LTS":
If you are looking for beginner/new to Hockey skating classes for your child ages 3-5 these classes are for you.
(NOTE: We are now offering 2 different Youth LTS classes. LTS Hockey which is designed for skaters in Hockey Skates who will eventually move into Jackson Youth Hockey, or our original youth LTS classes for the skaters who aren't sure their path in skating and are looking for classes that are fun/non -specific (so skaters will be in figure skates and hockey skates). If you want these classes are what you want click HERE)
Learn To Skate USA or "LTS" is a program designed with a specific Hockey Curriculum. LTS Hockey is for the new skater (in hockey skates) through the basic levels. We offer interactive fun group classes for new and returning basic level skaters to help improve skills before your Hockey player moves into JYH.

ABOUT Our LTS Classes:
SCJH Learn to Skate Hockey group classes meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-5:00pm with Moose player Ryan Glantz. Included in your class fee is a monitored Open Skate from 4:10-4:30pm . During the open practice/open skate if your skater wishes to take a private lesson they may do so (please book and pay for your lesson's directly with SCJH staff). If your skater is unable to stand/skate please have them only come to the group class only not the practice time till they are able to do so. Once they learn how to stand and skate they are welcome to join the practice time.  During the Tuesdays & Thursday classes your skater will not need a stick, so please leave it at home.  Please review the FAQ for addition information regarding recommendation on clothing/gear!

A Brief COVID & Refund Disclaimer:
In this paragraph we will go through the big topics of SCJH's policy/waivers (which you will sign as apart of your registration process). SCJH has in the past had a mask policy for all skaters and coaches. At this time SCJH has lifted it's Masking policy and hopes it stay that way but , If CDC/Town/school recommendation changes or our community's COVID positive cases increase we may revert back to our stricter COVID POLICY put into effect by SCJH which will include wearing a mask at all times.  If your skater is taking a private lesson please check with their coach on their mask policy/COVID Policies. SCJH will keep you posted on any change through email. SCJH ask that everyone acts in kindness & respect and comes to SCJH's Director or program coordinator with issues. SCJH has the right to refuse service to skaters/parents not following club protocol & policies. Please make sure you read through all the waiver carefully during the registration process.  SCJH does it's best to work with changes (we know life happens) but will not be issuing any refunds.

-Be on time & Follow These Steps To Make Group Class Easy-

1. Arrive a 20 minutes before your class kicks off (15 mins thereafter). We operate out of the Snow King Event & Sports Center.

2.  Check in at the registration desk.

3. Your skater will receive a name tag & Welcome Packet. On the name tag you will see a color this color will be "their group level/name". Please make sure you review the packet.

4. Lace skates up. Skates can be rented for $5.00 from the rink but rentals are not included in the group lesson pricing. Remember to only allow your skaters to walk on protective surfaces, NEVER WALK ON CONCRETE with skates (unless the blades have hard guards). Used Skates can be purchased from the Skate Swap/Hockey Swap, or we are happy to guide you in the process of  buying a new pair. Helmets are required for all skaters.

 5. Students will meet off ice with their instructor - look for the matching color on the name tag to coaches binders.   Coaches will go over class procedures. This is also good time to meet and become acquainted with your new instructor and ask any questions you may have. After the first couple of lessons skaters will be allowed to immediately take the ice and open skate till their group class.

The people you will meet:  Sandy Sandberg our program coordinator.  Lacey Merrell our Skating Director & your group skating Instructor.

Frequent
Asked Questions:
*What ages are you taking?
We are enrolling ages 3-5 in our Hockey LTS. If your skater is older than 5 and wishes to be apart that is ok but will need to understand they will be with other skaters who are younger.

*Where do you purchase skating gear:
Jackson Youth Hockey will be hosting their Skate Swap. If not you can purchase needed gear online.

*Yes To Helmets and Head Protection:
All SKATERS, ages 3-6, must wear a helmet. Nothing is to be worn underneath the helmet for proper fitting. Hockey helmets with cages are recommend but ski/ bike helmets are ok too.

*What does my skater need to wear on Tuesday and Thursday Skating classes?
Comfort and moving freely are essential for new skaters. Choose sweatpants or warm-up pants instead of bulkier snow pants. Bring a jacket too, since indoor rinks do set thermostats at a brisk 50 degrees Fahrenheit. No heavy ski clothes as they prohibit movement and bending. We also ask that all Hockey Skaters wear:
* Hockey skates,
*A Helmet
*Gloves (Ski gloves are preferable during this class) .
If your skater wishes to wear hockey pants and more of the gear they my do so.

*What Kind Of Gloves?
Gloves are preferable to mittens as they provide articulation. Either way, mittens or gloves are suitable for Tuesday and Thursday classes.
